The NME Awards Tour History
NME takes the best new bands out on the road every year
2004
Once again the legend of ‘the Coldplay slot’ held – by the time that this tour got underway openers Franz Ferdinand had a Number Three single with ‘Take Me Out’. They weren’t the most notorious band on the tour though – that dubious accolade went to Detroit garage act The Von Bondies, whose singer Jason Stollsteimer had recently been involved in an altercation with Jack White of The White Stripes and spent most of our tour covered in bruises. Also on the bill: New York dance-punkers The Rapture and Welsh screamo tykes Funeral For A Friend.
The Line Up:
Funeral For A Friend
The Rapture
The Von Bondies
Franz Ferdinand
