Molloy - This Is Fucking Brilliant

Comments 0

Track Description

Molloy released their first single, Tracy, on Way Out Records and a digital mini album on Kitty-Yo which was Steve Lamacqs album of the week in the summer (check out reviews on their website, www.thisisfuckingbrilliantcom, their blog, http://molloy.vox.com and on their myspace page, www.myspace.com/thisisfuckingbrilliant).They have now finished recording their follow up single, Gather Round Girls, and they are looking for a label to release it (so far they have had interest from Crystal Castles home Trouble Records). They have toured all over London and have been nominated for this years INDY Awards by XFM-backed promoters Broccoli Music. And Europe is taking an interest too after a few great gigs in Germany and high profile press and radio play in France. Peanut. Hazelnut. Cashew nut. Macadamia nut. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.******************************* True story... 12th December at 12 minutes past midnight five musicians, oblivious to each others presence, were sat waiting for their take-out pizza. Alan, shouted the member of serving staff as the five arose. Could these five individuals all be called Alan? Can you die of cancer at a car boot sale? The answer, of course, is yes! Astounded by this coincidence, Alan, Alan, Alan, Alan and Alan formed an eternal bond, which can only be broken by ham. It wasnt long before they had formed a band, too, and chosen a moniker in fitting with their green & orange attire - Molloy was thus born.Of course, the quirky five soon found out that being in a band and sharing the same name wasnt all going to be sunshine & roses. So, over a game of Scrabble, new high-scoring, yet succinct, identities were formed accordingly...Jez (19 points) guitar & vocals, Caz (14 points) vocals & guitars, Chaz (18 points) bass, Jacqz (32 points) synth & vocals, Toz (12 points) drums. Alan now, just seems like some wild, crazy dream, purports Jez. Alan? Alan who?, Chaz asks. I won, I won!, declares Jacqz as Toz raises an eyebrow acknowledging a silent victory. With their new names memorised, Molloy can now focus completely on their aim - to spurt forth music which will leave a sweet, yet salty, taste in your eye. And a bit in your hair.
