We all know what Shia LaBeouf has been up to lately. But there’s one actor from Even Stevens, the Disney sitcom that launched Shia’s career in the early noughties, who’s spent a little less time in spotlight than the oddball star. Until now. Remember Beans, the weird kid who lived next-door to Shia’s character in the show? The actor who played him, Steven Anthony Lawrence, is blowing up all over social media.
Now 25, Lawrence is working as a Santa’s Helper at the Sunvalley Shopping Centre in Concord, California, and visitors who grew up watching him are absolutely delighted – check out their social media posts below. Judging by the photos, he seems to be taking it all in good humour.
In addition to his festive work, Lawrence has spent the last few years appearing in films such as 2005’s Kicking and Screaming with Will Ferrell and conducting seminars at the Californian universities USC, Berkeley and Pepperdine.
In February, the actor told the Huffington Post that he was baffled to find fans recognised him from Even Stevens, which finished in 2003: “It’s really weird. I feel like I’ve changed so much when I look in the mirror. I don’t know how people even barely recognise me. But I’ll be walking down the street and people drive by for two seconds and automatically they’ll go, “Oh, my God! You’re Beans! Ahhh!” God, even I would have to at least do a double-take.”
