Weezer’s video for new single ’Pork And Beans’ is guaranteed to become an internet sensation, since it cleverly knits together all the most popular viral videos of the last 5 years - including cameos from the original ‘stars’.
We thought we’d try and identify all the clips referenced in the video, from Chocolate Rain Guy to the gibberish-spouting Miss America contestant. Have we missed any out?
Numa Numa Dance
Gary Brolsma becamse an unwitting global star when webcam footage of him mouthing along to a cheesy track by Moldovan pop group O-Zone went viral in 2004.
Chocolate Rain
Singer-songwriter/valet Tay Zonday’s stilted, home-made music video has received 23 million YouTube hits. The clip was even referenced in an episode of South Park, when a glance from Dramatic Look Gopher caused 'Zonday''s head to explode.
Mentos/Diet Coke
Fizzy drink + mints = explosions and soggy-faced 'hilarity'.
Dramatic Chipmunk
Pedants pointed out it was actually a prairie dog, not a chipmunk. 8 million YouTube viewers ignored them.
Kung-Fu Mishap
Hur hur, the man dun fall over. Isn’t the internet brilliant?
GI Joe Spoof
A series of re-dubbed cartoons in which the all-American hero is made to swear like a docker. Mildly amusing, although we preferred the Postman Pat version
T-shirt World Record
6.5 million people have watched this clip of Matt McAllister donning 155 T-shirts - making him roughly 7000 times more famous than The Courteeners’ Liam Fray.
All Your Base Are Belong To Us
Originally a reference to the poorly translated dialogue in Japanese computer game Zero Wing, this phrase has been known to make nerds laugh so hard their skulls cave in.
Miss Teen USA South Carolina 2007
A contestant in a beauty pageant talks air-headed gibberish. Not funny, just excruciating.
Evolution Of Dance
Tapping into the ever-popular internet meme of sneering at spirited amateurs, this is YouTube’s most popular clip ever, with a startling 87 million views. That’s a lot of people bored at work.
Peanut Butter Jelly
A dancing banana bellowing the words, “It’s peanut butter jelly time!” About as funny as SARS.
Star Wars Kid
Tens of millions pointed and laughed at an overweight 14-year-old wielding a light-sabre. He ended up seeking psychiatric help. What an age we live in.
