Pivot? Negative. Cut Copy? Sorry, but no. Fuck Buttons? Howlin' Rain? White Denim? Neeeeoooo chance. A Place To Bury Strangers? Get the hell out of here...
So, the list of NME writers' Albums of the Year 2008 has been decided, and my own personal choices didn't see fit to coincide with the mass vote, but that's democracy for you.
How the voting works:
All NME writers submit their Top 20 Tracks. Everyone's Number One album gets 20 points, everyone's Number 20 album gets 1 point and so on. Whichever record gets the most points wins.
Simple.

You can read the full list of the top fifty albums in this week's magazine, but for now here's the Top Ten. Make sure you hit up this blog with your own personal favourites below.
Meanwhile, here's a selection of artists discussing their albums of the year:
10 - Friendly Fires : Friendly Fires
This self-titled debut kept the post-new rave percussive flame alive and strong in 2008.
If you liked this album go out and buy: Cut Copy's In Ghost Colours
9 - Kings Of Leon : Only By The Night
They went stadium. It worked. Did you HEAR the new songs at Glasto?!
If you liked this album go out and buy: Tom Petty's Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers
8 - Mystery Jets : 21
Proving they didn't need their dad to hold their hands after all.
If you liked this album go out and buy: Duran Duran's Rio
7 - Santogold : Santogold
Another gold-plated classic that ramped up several of our festivals.
If you liked this album go out and buy: Mpho's stuff (when she's finished it)
6 - Metronomy : Nights Out
Very much an opinion splitter in the NME office. It just happened that the naysayers were wrong.
If you liked this album go out and buy: All the things Little Boots has done while you wait for the album (being recorded in LA in January)
5 - Foals : Antidotes
Massive. Horny. Itchy. Perfection.
If you liked this album go out and download: A free track by Three Trapped Tigers and another by Gallops! courtesy of your friendly neighbourhood music website.
4 - Vampire Weekend : Vampire Weekend
Preppy afro-pop obsessives done good, very very good.
If you liked this album go out and buy: Fela Kuti's back catalogue.
3 - Glasvegas : Glasvegas
A cheese grater to the cochlea for me, but undoubtedly one of the year's breakthroughs.
If you liked this album go out and buy: A Place To Bury Strangers' self-titled debut for some REAL wall of sound action.
2 - TV On The Radio : Dear Science
Dave Sitek's day job blew even his prodigious collaborations out of the water.
If you liked this album go out and buy: Their back catalogue, it's even better.
1 - MGMT : Oracular Spectacular
Who else? We liked this. A lot. Unanimously.
If you liked this album go out and buy: Chairlift's Does You Inspire You
