Last week we were lucky enough to get down to London club White Heat, to see Lightspeed Champion and Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner cover The Strokes together.

Well if you weren’t lucky enough to see the debut performance of the Pun Lovin’ Criminals as the supergroup called themselves, we discovered this great footage floating about online.

Just click below to watch the video, plus check out the current issue of NME with Lightspeed himself on the cover for the full story on how the gig came about.

no offensive to the group or anything. but them covering the strokes is a bad idea, they've turned a really good influencial song into a bag of crap. shame on them!!

second that. i've never been much of a fan of alex turner at all though. in this he seems more of a guy pulled from the crowd to do some karaoke. the bass player though was on the ball though.

Ive never heard of this band before, this is the first time i've seen or heard them What a bunch of shit What's alex doing with them? They cant play

i saw lightspeed champion last week at lancaster sugarhouse and they were brilliant, the album is brilliant but this is not good i agree. Listen to lightspeed on his own and his cover of heart beats in its cage its very good!

its class you deaf fucks
Woodsy [Visitor] //January 31 2008 at 17:21
To be fair though, it looks like their all having a laugh - I dont think its meant to be taken seriously, I'd have loved to have been there!

its just a bit of fun..... get over it you winging tarts
Mike1990 [Visitor] //January 31 2008 at 18:24
Alex is a master. This band suck
thomas [Visitor] //January 31 2008 at 18:34
i think u boys need to simmer down. it was all a bit of fun. not like they're saying yer lets do it better than the strokes did, cos no1 could. and whoever can dispute the fact that alex turner is a genius needs to re-assess themselves and the situation. peace.

What a Load of Shit !
Dom [Visitor] //January 31 2008 at 19:42
its the same old story from people who post reviews. no one can take a cover for granted, you always inevitably slag it off. you give all the crap about influencial a song is and these guys are just having a laugh. next time u cover a bands song. yo remeber wot u said about other bands covering songs. cos u couldnt do any better , you arrogant bastards.
Pete [Visitor] //January 31 2008 at 20:03
I dont see what all the hype about Lightspeed Champion, he/they play average catchy songs, nothing revolutionary. As the the arctics, well i loved their first album, the second one was a let down and this cover is awful, The Strokes are an awesome band and this is a class song, but they butcherd it.

its just some friends jamming and they happen to be famous enough to jam on a stage. dev said before the video started that they never practiced together before. with that said i think they did a good job on the song

What do u twats know ur all just emo twats sort it out eh and learn to fuckin know ur music yeh..
Ridler [Visitor] //January 31 2008 at 23:18
Why have a go? They were celebrating Dev's album release, and to be honest the cover isn't bad, everyone is a critic these days..........
nick [Visitor] //February 1 2008 at 04:37
i like both bands but NO ONE can cover the strokes and get away with it. no one sounds like jules. no one plays like nick. just doesn't work.....

This is great- learn to appreciate talent

Clearly only idiots have been commenting thus far. Who can question the genius of Alex Turner multiplied by Dev Hynes, the breathing saviour of music. Shame on you harsh commentators.
beckyyy [Visitor] //February 3 2008 at 15:54

Josh [Visitor] //February 4 2008 at 19:13
why is everybody acting so negatively?!?!? its just a bit of fun. its nothing serious, just a little get together which is unrehearsed as they mentioned. now shut up and enjoy the actually not so bad cover
elin [Visitor] //February 5 2008 at 17:12
