David V Goliath, Floyd Mayweather V Big Show, Yoevil V Sunderland in the 1949 FA Cup – history is littered with the kind of momentous underdog victories that make your heart swell up like someone's stuck a bike pump hose in it and pushed really hard on the handle.

Now we could be on the verge of another, as Glasvegas take on the metal might of Metallica in the UK album charts this week.
So, we know that one band who melt if they wear any colour other than noir will be at the top of the pile on Sunday, but which one will it be?
Glasvegas' debut album has already put the wind up Lars Ulrich's mob, prompting them to release their album early (it wasn't supposed to come out until tomorrow). And at the time of writing Glasvegas' self-titled effort had found its way into rather a few thousand good citizens' shopping trollies.

So I urge you, NME reader, citizen, lover of music not mutilated by the fact that it's got a double bass drum pedal pounding away on every song like a haemorrhaging hummingbird's heartbeat, to buy a copy of 'Glasvegas' today.
It is, in my opinion, the best album of the year so far. And do you really want this band to be top of the UK charts?:
