Obviously the tracklisting has led to much nodding and/or scratching of heads.

Ones we’re looking forward to: ’Careless Whisper’ reimagined by The Gossip as lo-fi banger, Mutya bringing her nastygirl charm to Tracy Chapman’s ’Fast Car’, Elton’s ’Your Song’ cockney-ized by The Streets .

But is Roxy Music’s ’Love Is The Drug’ vamped up by Kylie and Dame David Bowie’s ’Sound & Vision’ done by Franz Ferdinand both too obvious?

We can see ourselves reaches for the ‘skip’ button for The Fratellis version of Hendrix’s ’All Along The Watchtower’.

And the less said about Razorlight covering Sting the better.

But what do we think about The Pigeon Detectives covering Huey Lewis & The News, The Kooks doing Ace Of Base and Klaxons doing Blackstreet?

Leave a comment and let us know.

Wow, The Streets! I am in awe! Speaking of obvious however, how about the oh so spontaneous View covering, the Libertines (wasn't that called Wasted Little DJ's?). Also, Ronson...he's obviously tired out from demolishing various other songs for a day job, so he's now gonna work his charm on a cover that already sounds like a cover he's done? Is this making sense? Dude get's too much praise. Great choices by Klaxons, Pigeon Detectives and, dare I say it, The Kooks! I'll keep quiet about Borrell...but who the fuck do McFly think they are!! x

"1982 – Town Called Malice (The Jam) covered by McFly " if someone could arrange for the radio 1 transmitters to have a terrible accident around the time that goes out I'd be most grateful.

I am really curious of Hard-Fi doing "Toxic." Maybe I am just a fan of odd covers. The "Steady as She Goes" by Corrine might be interesting as well. I'll purchase the cd just for the train wreck curiousity of it all. I hope there are more hits than misses.

"All Along The Watchtower" is written by Bob Dylan! Are The Kaiser Chiefs doing a cover of a cover?
Poppy@Froth [Visitor] //August 17 2007 at 19:59
"Dame" David Bowie? Is this Smash Hits? Is it 1984? You'll be introducing your new segment "Black Type" next... Editors doing Lullaby might work. If that dude stops hiding under his bed from terrorists.

OMG Lily Allen ruining a good song again. Mind you, the Fray covering REM, that is pure sacrilege!
Quack [Visitor] //August 22 2007 at 21:01
I can see the Kooks one being very good. However, Girls Aloud doing Teenage Dirtbag - is there any way that can be good? Hmm..

Looking foward to hear this album!!!!! Specially Lily Allen singing The Pretenders ... Another cover I`d reaaaally love to hear is the Manson`s duet - Shirley and Marilyn - singing that 80's hit - Don't you want me baby ... I've read that they have recorded it ages ago but never released ... it should be in this album!!!!
Martyn [Visitor] //August 24 2007 at 20:39
Can't Wait! This Is Gonna Rock!!!!! When is it released?
MuGo [Visitor] //August 24 2007 at 22:39
Well, that are not the songs I would expect and not always the artist who I want to cover them...
foxinthebox [Visitor] //August 29 2007 at 11:27
Ocean Colour Scene could have easily covered a Jam / Style Council / Weller song, would anyone notice? They built a career around poor imitations of the modfather.
