We've put together an online poll to help you vote for the greatest Michael Jackson track. Click here to determine the NME readers' Top 20

It’s the question that's been racing round the Glastonbury site – the third thing everyone is instantly asked during every backstage ‘stop-and-chat’, just after “You looking forward to The Boss?” and “How shit were East 17?”

And it’s this: What’s your favourite Michael Jackson song?

The answer to this question generally depends on your age. 30-somethings, and the more thoughtful kind of music fans, generally plump for 'Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough' - largely because its clean rhythmic lines and majestic funkiness are free of the taint of '80s pomp that accompanies Jackson's later, blockbuster hits.

Ask a child of the '80s, however, and he or she will generally choose either 'Man In The Mirror' – that most overblown, yet curiously moving, of ballads – or 'The Way You Make Me Feel', a song whose sleek, onrushing groove has won fans in unexpected places. More than one metal fan has pointed out to me the rhythmic similarity between that track and the remorseless ‘power groove’ of Pantera’s 'Walk'.

But there are so many deathlessly brilliant songs to choose from – which is why it’s the kind of conversation that keeps drunken Glastonbury-goers chattering late into the night.

So how about you? Which Michael Jackson song do you love the most?

Poll - vote for the greatest Michael Jackson track

Billie Jean by an absolute mile. It's the most recognizable bassline in history.
Damian [Visitor] //June 26 2009 at 21:59
Billie Jean, obviously. Can You Feel It for a less obvious choice.
Katja [Visitor] //June 26 2009 at 22:00
To be honest, there are far too many. And I like the Jackson 5 stuff as well. How could you decide?
Darren Co [Visitor] //June 26 2009 at 22:04
Earth Song Dunno why, im a old skool indie boy but love this song

Don't stop till you get enough or black or white
Roy [Visitor] //June 26 2009 at 22:38
To me, "Billie Jean" will always be his no .1 track. As a guy who's in his mid-30's now, I'm belong to the "Thriller" generation in terms of MJ's musical legacy. "Billie Jean" is a pop song written, performed and produced to perfection. And it has one of the best intros in pop history. R.I.P King of Pop.

For me, as incredible as he was, the Jackson 5 will always be far better. Their first three major singles - I Want You Back, ABC, and The Love You Save, especially I Want You Back, will always eclipse anything that he did solo.
Siany [Visitor] //June 27 2009 at 00:03
Man In The Mirror

"Wanna Be Startin Something" for me, and the Bad album is still underratted, definitely stands up against Thriller and Off The Wall.
Rob W [Visitor] //June 27 2009 at 02:55
Dunno if picking a Jackson 5 track is cheating but "It's Great to Be Here" is the best song that Michael Jackson was on the recording off. The lyrics are bonkers (something about eskimos) but the track is amazing!!

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough

both i want you back and man in the mirror are amazing
Traillblazer [Visitor] //June 27 2009 at 10:54
Far too many, epic music, personally probably 'man in the mirror'
Tel-X [Visitor] //June 27 2009 at 11:16
For me, personally, it has to be 'One Day In Your Life'... just exquisite arrangements combined with the most beautifully written and sung lyrics ever committed to tape. To me, it sums Jacko's life up in a nutshell. If I were to pick (what John Shuttleworth would call) an 'up-tempo number' I would have to plump for the full video for 'Can You Feel It'... Go on Jermaine - sprinkle that Jackson love-dust..!
MikeyReds [Visitor] //June 27 2009 at 12:29
Billie Jean
lucy [Visitor] //June 27 2009 at 12:40

Rich [Visitor] //June 27 2009 at 21:00
Until you've heard ALL his songs, it really is unfair to say this one or that one mentioned above...would have been better to catorgorise his stuff then choose . Having been born 1 year after him, I lived & breathed his & his family's music, conclusion, the Victory album, for This place hotel, Thriller for its video and Don't stop til you get enough, which put him FIRMLY and truely in more places than even Elvis,James Brown or any pope will ever do...Truely a legend, and they come but once in a lifetime. Let the music play 'cos the show must go on...and on... R.I.P : MJ.

Give In To Me is one sexy badass song.
Dave [Visitor] //June 29 2009 at 01:44
I am mainly a fan of hardcore undeground metal so commenting about pop music seems rather out of character for me. I still can't deny Michael Jackson was ridiculously talented and EVERYONE listened to him when I was young in the 80s. I would be a liar if I didn't admit to loving his music, so with that being said... 'Man in the Mirror' is the best power ballad ever written. Period. I generally don't like ballads and, I guess because none of them can stack up to this. It's soft, beautiful, and gentle without coming across as cliche or cheesy. It sounds like he really means what he is singing, like a good Bob Dylan song.
Erin [Visitor] //June 29 2009 at 04:17
def "Man in the Mirror", although all are quite good

I love Man In The Mirror. It's one of those songs which makes you reflect yourself and whether you need to change your ways or not. I recently found a website which lets people say thanks to someone. It’s called www.thanksto.com and they’ve set up an account for Michael Jackson so that members can write their messages of thanks about him and his music. I've written my message to him which you can read here: http://www.thanksto.com/messageView.php?msgId=dfcd681eb60f68215c849b58742f9d22 and I really want to try and get 1,000 stories to the late great Michael Jackson. If you enjoyed his music then check out his profile and please write a thank you to Michael for all that he did when he was alive.

I absolutely love, Who Is It, They Don't Care About Us, Smooth Criminal, and Beat It. I couldn't narrow it down to just one song alone. All of his songs are great and i can listen to them over and over and still get excited, happy, joy, all kinds of feelings and emotions for each of his songs and never get bored. How many can do that? He is a legend and i will miss him. Smooth Criminal is his best video, the dancing is 'off the wall' and he looks so good in his white/cream suit. Love Him!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one that likes Dirty Diana as their favourite MJ song? I know that a lot of people would be going for something from his most successful album, Thriller, but I'm someone that just finds a little more enjoyment from one or two of his other albums, like Bad or Off the Wall.
Robert [Visitor] //June 30 2009 at 14:14
Best three are defo "One Day In Your Life", "Human Nature" and "Billy Jean". If anyone hasn't heard any of these i'd defo reccommend you listened, absolutely amazing!

scruffchild [Visitor] //June 30 2009 at 21:23
I want to put in a special mention for I Just Can't Stop Loving You, the only cheesy love song in history that I like. It's not my fave but shouldnt be neglectd in a discussion like this! Glad Verni mentioned Who Is It. The whole of the Dangerous album is awesome.

"Wazupwitu" is by far his greatest track, not so much because it is a good song, but because it marked the beginning of the end of not only his career, but Eddie Murphy's career. Sure they both still made tons of cash after it's release but they both lost one important thing, dignity....

Bazza [Visitor] //June 29 2009 at 16:17 Kai Killick [Visitor] //June 26 2009 at 21:58 Billie Jean by an absolute mile. It's the most recognizable bassline in history. I don't think so Pillick, try Peaches by The Stranglers. ~~~~~~~~~- hell no Billie Jean by a longshot

Scott from Madison [Visitor] //July 1 2009 at 11:30
His best song is In the closet. It is also his best video by far. This is Michael being an adult male and relishing what was a unique opportunity for him.

Billie Jean, of course. It's great when performed live. Earth Song is great too, and Beat It has a nice tune, but for me, Billie Jean is just a total wipe-out.

Jacko's top 10 songs: Billie Jean. Beat It. The Way You Make Me Feel. Dirty Diana. Man In The Mirror. I Want You Back. ABC. Off The Wall. Ben. Bad. Everything since the Bad album (apart from Blood On Dancefloor single) is utter rubbish, though.
lydia from TW [Visitor] //July 4 2009 at 09:48

I have a lot of favorite songs,he was simply the best in this, but I'll have to say DIRTY DIANA,GIVE IN TO ME followed by WILL YOU BE THERE and BLACK OR WHITE.R.I.P Michael
Mara [Visitor] //July 6 2009 at 16:43
I still can't believe it and I wasn't even a major fan. It's just too bad that people are beginning to apreciate him just now,me rather included.I think that the real-life-him was even better than the performer-him;he made so many changes in the way the most of us perceive the world.Just R.I.P Michael and yes,his music WILL live forever.

Billie Jean. <333
Andrew [Visitor] //July 16 2009 at 08:29
I've always thought 'Stranger in Moscow' was such an underrated song, a brilliant one though, something haunting about the way it sounds, so that's my pick.
[Visitor] //July 26 2009 at 12:53
I must be MJ's most non-traditional fan. While I recognize that Billie Jean is a milestone, my personal favorites are: Give in to me, Ben, and Whatever happens.
