The Hold Steady
Blog from The Hold Steady - I saw Bruce Springsteen...
Sunday 11.11.07
I haven't written in a while, but its been an incredible few weeks. The Chicago shows were outstanding, and my Halloween costume even made it until almost the third song. Minneapolis was thrilling for me, it felt really cool coming onstage in a beautiful old theater in my hometown. The next night I saw Bruce Springsteen, and it was an incredible show. I even got to meet him briefly, which was an unbelievable feeling for me. He even played "Thunder Road".

Dearest Internet
I must apologise for the long wait you must have endured. Two long weeks have passed and still no word from everyone's favourite dog's body, Barnaby Fudge. The reason for this eternity of expectation, I have been busy accumulating enough information to allow each and every one of you a portal into the centre of this rock and roll safari, this swamp of debauchery, this Art Brut. But the wait is over. Sit down, relax. Fix your see bags on the screen and get ready to point your best internet sticks in the right direction.

The road is a crafty mistress. She lures lusty young folks away from home with the promise of adventure — where else can one see exotic locales, taste the foreign cultures, kiss with foreign tongues — and gets them drunk on the prospect of forever.

Too many eggs for me...

You know what we love about Los Angeles and San Diego? We love that they’re in Southern California, and we’re all from Southern California.

THE ICE FACE CHALLENGE
You know those nights where you consume the perfect storm of Cheese-Whiz, Jolt Cola, Rice Krispies and crystal meth, and just about everything you come up with is the best idea EVER? We of The Blood Arm Posse have those kind of nights just about every evening. Very rarely, however, is our crew grouped with individuals working on the same advanced plane as we are, and even more rarely have those individuals consumed the same perfect storm of Cheese-Whiz, Jolt Cola, Rice Krispies and crystal meth as we have. Last night at the Mezzanie in San Francisco was such an event—the planets aligned in such a fashion that everyone in The Blood Arm, Art Brut and The Hold Steady had all brain synapses simultaneously firing so rapidly that when we put out heads together (literally), the sonic boom was so powerful it set off every car alarm in a five-mile radius. The other outcome of our collective superbrain: THE ICE FACE CHALLENGE.
