Good news people – there’s a festival on next weekend that doesn’t involve necking 27 pints of weak lager in the rain, and it’s about as far away from T In The Park as the British Isles can afford.

Brighton’s Loop festival is back for a third time this year and has a massive line-up announced already. While you’re gonna miss Paolo Nutini and The Courteeners (and about 40 other fish I could line up in a barrel and gun down with glee), they’ve secured the likes of Plugs, Squarepusher, Mum, Tunng and Casiokids for the Victoria Gardens stage, The Field, Mirrors and Telepathe for the Corn Exchange area and loads more including Riton and Casper C.
And to top it off they’re even putting on a live show by Fever Ray. I saw the ex-The Knife project at London’s Royal Festival Hall a while back and it was astonishing. Imagine the cast of ‘Let The Right One In’ grown up and raiding a troll’s fancy dress box before unleashing 45 minutes of spooky bliss lit only by a series of lampshades in an electric storm. With added lasers. Can’t even remember who they were supporting but they blew them away.

So you’ve got that lot, you’ve got a load of audiovisual stuff too, and you’ve got Brighton in July, which will surely be nicer than Great Escape time. Here’s a pre-festival mixtape as a taster and if you want to come down you can get tickets here.
