According to US music blog Idolator, Faith No More are set to reunite for a European tour this summer.

Which surely calls for a bit of this by way of celebration:

continued...

And here's 'Epic' live from Rock In Rio in front of about 100,000 kids going mental.

And a late-period track, released just before they split in 1998, 'Ashes To Ashes'.

As someone who loves Mike Patton's voice, but who has grown increasingly weary of the great rock eccentric's latterday fondness for experimental grindcore/post-metal/avant-skronk kazoo/flugelhorn odyssies at the expense of actual songs, I'm incredibly excited by this news.

Faith No More for Reading 2009? It has a certain ring to it...

This is some exciting stuff. A new album would be rad. Alas, I would love a Mr. Bungle reunion so much more.

Awesome news. Too young to see them first time around but can't wait to see them this year. Shame Jim Martin is too busy growing pumpkins but as long as Patton is there thats all they need.

Blink 182 and Faith No More for the sunday of Reading, would be deep but it doesn't really feel like we're moving forward does it?
Gill [Visitor] //February 25 2009 at 15:12
Faith No More should headline one night. Who cares if it "doesn't really feel like we're moving forward"? Music is eternal, only idiots think that older music can't compete with new stuff.

I like how you see to think they could do R/L; classic rock however has a source that says they will announce date -including a uk festival date- on monday. The same day Download Festival announces its big, third and final headliner. 1+1=2.

They'll be here sooner than Reading...

Was a HUGE fan through the early-mid 90's incl. seeing them in front of 400 people at the Northampton Roadmender in 95, I think just before they headlined Phoenix for the 2nd time. incredible live, they will literally embarrass other metal acts into submission and then insult the rest. I'm not sure modern crowds are ready for Patton. Shove your "moving forwards" up your A-hole....

I think the broad consensus (sorry to those wanting them at Reading / Leeds though I guess it's still very much possible) is that Download's site will announce FNM as the 3rd headliner this evening... s'alright for me I've already got tickets to it! :D Speaking of which I'm not too familiar with Mike Patton and co, so anyone on the NME messageboards got suggestions with where to start? Thanks ppl...

For JoeHMusic. Their music was so varied due to their versatility, line-up changes and their experimental nature that they were always very hard to pigeonhole. The self-titled album was considered to be their breaker and commited 'Epic' to MTV pantheon but I think go straight for 'Angel Dust'. One of the top 5 most influential albums of the 90s imo and contributed more to rock/metal than could be summised. Enjoy.

Chuck, I was at Roadmender too, will never forget that night, they were amazing. Hope they do a straight forward tour as well as appear at festivals.
