News that Garbage vocalist Shirley Manson has landed a plum role as a urinal in 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' (no "her career's really gone down the toilet" gags please) has reminded us just how many bizarre rock star cameos there are out there.

Garbage

As ever, you can augment our list by leaving a comment below.

continued...

First up, here's Manson doing her amazing toilet metamorphosis thing.

Tom Morello – Star Trek: Voyager
The Republican-baiting Rage Against The Machine axeman appeared as a crewman on the USS Voyager, directing captain Kathryn Janeway "to the left, ma'am". A wry political gag, perhaps?

Ice-T – Tank Girl
Who knew the man behind 'Cop Killer' would be so convincing in the role of a mutant kangaroo? Flick to 0.59 to see his ludicrous prosthetic costume in the flop 1995 comic book adaptation.

Bob Dylan – Dharma & Greg
Dylan appearing in this cornball US sit-com is the equivalent of Thom Yorke cropping up in 'Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps Please'. Truly baffling. Flick to 0.30 for the wizened one.

Damon Albarn – Face
The Blur man cropped up in this otherwise-forgettable 1997 gangster flick, playing the role of a monosyllabic criminal. Watch him discuss it here:

Ian Brown – Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Blink and you'd have missed the former Stone Roses frontman poring over Stephen Hawking's 'A Brief History Of Time' in the third Potter film. Jarvis Cocker was due to appear in the 'Goblet Of Fire' but his part ended up on the cutting-room floor.

Debbie Harry – Videodrome
"I'm in a highly stimulated state," purred the Blondie singer suggestively in David Cronenberg's nightmarish 1983 sci-fi flick.

Eddie Vedder – Singles
Genuinely funny turn from the Pearl Jam man, as the taciturn drummer to Matt Dillon's dim-witted vocalist.

Jack White – Walk Hard
White's brief cameo as a chop-socky Elvis in Judd Apatow's spoof biopic is a lot more fun than his humourless turn in 'Cold Mountain'.

Keith Richards – Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End
Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow was based on Keef, so it didn't take a great leap to cast the Stones man as Sparrow's dad.

Joe Strummer - Mystery Train
The Clash man holds up a liquor store in this Jim Jarmusch film, which also boasts a voiceover from Tom Waits.

Frank Zappa – The Monkees
The godfather of psychedelia swapped places with Monkees man Mike Nesmith, seemingly with the sole purpose of messing with people's minds.

Shirley Manson is not ex-Garbage vocalist. The band is not done, they are just on hiatus. Get your facts right.

Thanks Todor, I've corrected that now.
