For a certain section of the techno consignetti, the news that Kompakt honcho Michael Mayer and the label's marketing manager Jon Berry were launching a new imprint was cause for excitement – or as close a facsimile that those elegantly wasted sorts can get to excitement. Now, Michael Mayer, respected and admired though he is, has never shied away from flexing his non-purist muscle. His penchant for melody and a finely attuned taste for pungent cheese, as exemplified on the B side to Lovefood which saw him pair up with Chilean house perv Matias Aguayo to roll out a sultry after hours version of Kylie’s 'Slow', would suggest that his new label was never going to be for the techno functionalists. But first, that 'Slow' track, with a very questionable visual accompaniment.
