Local Natives are here for your father. Oh, you're 47 and dad died three years ago from a degenerative disease? Don't worry, that doesn't matter, they're digging him up, burning his Paul Simon and Crazy Horse LPs before his very (moldy) eyes and declaring themselves his fav new band that he likes to think he can 'share' with you...

Local Natives
Local Natives, also well versed with a spirit level

Remember how Fleet Foxes and Vampire Weekend ploughed in last year sounding like an amalgam of all the records your pops put on mixtapes for the last girlfriend he had before your mum turned up and brought decorative cushions and trowels into his life, whilst wearing clothes he could see himself looking pretty natty in too? Well, these LA plaid warriors didn't miss that trick. They're trudging the same damp-smelling 12-inch troughs, while injecting something friskier, looser, more DIY, and (perhaps even) more Pitchforkier into the jam.

They might as well have their 'Later With Jools...' artist's pass branded onto the palm of their hands like the evil Nazi baddy from 'Indiana Jones'. Bring on the Peruvian Yak-herding free-jazz sextet.

Here's a brand new exclusive track (click the name to download), it's called: 'Sun Hands'.

Man. Sounds like a double soy mocha Starbucks Fleet Foxes, or a Band of Horses if they were dreamed up by cynical 50something fat cats. They can just smell the cash, can't they?

Let's face it. If "Friends" or "Felicity" were still continuing this middle age fluff would inevitably be on the soundtrack.

Dear Jaimie Hodgson, I don't know how else to contact you except via a comment? Anyway, since you tend to write about new, upcoming bands, i thought i would give you some free advice. The best unsigned band around are called the Melodica, Melody and Me. If you don't already know them, then i seriously reccomend checking them out. I am nothing to do with the band, and this is not an attempt at undue promotion, i am merely helping you with your job. Good luck squire, do the right thing and get listening. They are fantastic. Also, keep up the good work. I find your indulgent, pretentious musings somewhat agreeable.

Think its hirlarious you still havnt picked up on Guildean Gang. All the great music mags seem to be loving these boys, but theyve passed you by. If you spent more time finding new music worth listening to rather than creaming off about the next buzz bands, the Uk music scene wouldnt be in such a mess. I blame coco are awful, another prime example of a sibling with no talent same goes for florence and the machine, so she went to private school with the macabees and jack penate....not sure that gives her any right to be a signed artist, shes sub-standard and clearly not in the same league as (although i have no time for) lilly allen, winehouse, adele etc.

Ugh, your cynicism is painful. Your empty words and pretentious references are not enlightening in the least. Complete purple prose. Anyway. I think Local Natives are a pretty good band.. Airplanes is a good song.
