Who: Bring Me The Horizon
Where and When: Second Stage. Download Festival. 6.20pm. Friday

Vibe: Energetic. The Sheffield metalcore crew have been on the crest of a wave in these last few months and the bumper size crowd they drew showed that this is a band ready for big, big slots in the next few years.
Best bit: ‘It Never Ends.’ As well as being one of the best cuts from ‘This Is A Hell’, with its brittle guitar riffs and chord changes, the fact that the crowd went apeshit when the intro came in shows how the band have developed. What was once a a scrappy hardcore mob with battering ram riffs is now a genuinely innovative rock band.
Low point: ‘Anthem’ took a little while to get the crowd going, but that’s not much of a low point really…
Banter: Oli Sykes was in a horny mood during the set, the first thing he did was declare the crowd “Sexy motherfuckers” and he even dedicated the band’s set to “anyone’s been shagging today.” Maybe he’s been away from his girlfriend for a while…
Verdict: Superb. There won’t be many better sets than this during the weekend.
Rating: 9/10
