Last night, Coldplay headlined Glastonbury for the first time since 2005. The performance was filled with fireworks, confetti and a laser show, but the most exciting bit for fans was the fact that they played five brand new songs. Well, four brand new ones and their latest single 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall'. But it was the first time they brought it to a big UK festival stage.
Were you there to hear them? You can stream their entire set now, courtesy of the BBC. But if you're in a rush or can't face listening to 'Viva La Vida' ever again, then you can give the newbies a listen below. The band actually recently played some of these at Rock am Ring in Germany... but this is the first time they've been played live for UK ears.
'Hurts Like Heaven'
They began their set with this track, treating fans to a pretty epic festival kick-off (with the fireworks and strobe lights and whatnot). And judging by the fans' reactions, they seemed to enjoy this new one.
Before rolling this one out, Chris Martin said to the crowd: "Please forgive us for playing new songs, one day they'll be your favourites, but now it's OK to be thinking, 'What the fuck?'" So, he guarantees this one will become one of your favourites. What do you think? While you're at it, take a look at our review of the track.
'Us Against The World'
Aww, bless. Chris Martin screwed up the song a bit and had to start over (at 1:55). "Forget that fuck-up just happened. This is an open rehearsal. Let's forget this is a festival and we're supposed to be professional headliners," he told his audience. We'll forgive him, but only because it sounds good.
And here's the final new track the band played at Glasto. Neat title.
So, what do you think of Coldplay's new tunes?
