James Blake at Glastonbury Festival 2011 - Review

By Priya Elan

Who: James Blake

Where and When: Park Stage, Saturday

Vibe: Intense and very intimate. Pretty much the opposite of Pulp's set.

Best bit: 'CMYK'. The sound of the Kelis sample blasting out the speakers, lifts things about 10 feet high, mid-set. The crowd respond appropriately.

Low point: Following Pulp was never going to be easy and the mass exodus of revellers after the Britpop legends set proved that this wasn't the ideal slot for Mr Blake.

Banter: Sparse, save for some banter about being pleased to be playing "as the sun goes down."

Verdict: No, it wasn't 'Disco 2000' but his emo-dubstep was affecting in its own way.

Rating: 7/10
