Who: Kings of Leon

Where and When: Main Stage, Friday.

Vibe: Rowdy but kind of emotional. Well, it's the opening night of the UK's first big summer festival; what do you darn well expect? Each of the band is simultaneously rocking the hell out and working their own distinct brooding male model thing and, accordingly, the crowd go wild.

Best bit: Though they might all be about stadium sized epics these days, 2004 track 'The Bucket' proves just how amazing these guys have been for quite so long. It also makes for a welcome upbeat break from the heavy U2 stylings that they're so very fond of.

Low point: Ok, so 'Use Somebody' is without a doubt still a massive tune, but when near enough to 90,000 people are hollering it at the same time, whilst gazing moistly into their partners' eyes, it all gets a bit too corny for us to handle.

Banter: "I'm about to turn 30 years old, and I'm starting to have fun doing this, man. I don't know why it took me so long. I've had a lot of jobs before this... I was a porn star for a while - it didn't work out.” (Caleb Followill)

Verdict: They've had a fair bit of practice at this sort of thing, so it comes as no surprise to see that the siblings have got headlining a festival totally in the bag; complete with lazers, lights and crowd pleasing chit-chat.

Rating: 8/10
