Saturday At T In The Park - 5 Things To Do

By Rebecca Schiller

Posted on 08 Jul 11

Amazingly, it barely rained on day one of T In The Park. Will we be so lucky with days two and three? We hope so!

So besides crossing your fingers for sunshine and a non-muddy field, here are the five things you should do today if you're on the Scotland festival site.

1. Take an opera break
Need a break from all the rock 'n' roll? Stop by Healthy T for the festival debut from the Scottish Opera. They'll be performing a rework of Verdi's 'Rigoletto', split up into 20-minute versions. But if opera's not your thing, you can also catch the Cairn String Quartet there at 12:30pm (on Saturday and Sunday) – they promise to roll out hits from Beyonce to Foo Fighters to Blondie.

2. Jump around with House Of Pain
The ‘90s hip hop group will be taking over the Radio 1/NME Stage (with Odd Future to follow), so it guarantees to be a rowdy, rap-filled afternoon.

3. Stop by the Cabaret tent
For the very first time, T In The Park will see cabaret, fire eaters, music, dance and burlesque over at the Sunset Strip. It promises to be “wonderfully weird”, so you probably won’t want to miss it.

4. Embrace your inner pop princess
Whether your inner pop princess is bootylicious like Beyonce or glamorifically raunchy like Ke$ha, there’s something for everyone on the Main Stage.

5. Contribute to a good cause
If you’ve got some spare change in your pockets and time to kill, head over to the Charity Village (near the Slam Tent) for entertainment, activities and a wee bit of donation making to some great causes including Cancer Research UK, Save The Children and Wateraid.
