So The Big Four, Biffy Clyro and Slipknot headlined, Gallows played one of their last ever shows with Frank Carter after the frontman announced he was leaving and the likes of Rolo Tomassi, Architects and You Me At Six were on the bill. But how was Sonisphere for you?

One of my favourite moments was when Metallica were joined onstage the rest of The Big Four - Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth - and Diamond Head to perform a cover of the latter's hit 'Am I Evil?' The highlight of the weekend for me however, and probably one of the highlights of my summer, was seeing Gallows play the Saturn Stage. It was clearly an emotional set for the guys, who were saying goodbye to Frank, and the audience went absolutely mental with one of the biggest circle pits I've ever seen.

Elsewhere, Biffy Clyro proved that they can win over a metal crowd in their first ever major UK festival headline set and even played a bit of Slayer. Their 24 song set proved that the boys are more than ready for even more big summer sets next year.
