South By Southwest 2009 - Metallica, Kid Cudi And Starbucks Injuries

I have single-handedly being keeping Austin's Pedicabs in business this week. You know, the rickshaw things. They are totally boss, and have got me to and from gigs all week long, only yesterday on my way to my first show of the day, I was taking in the sights in the back of one of these things, sipping a coffee and the guy hit a bump.

Have you ever had a scorching hot Starbucks Grande Latte with an extra shot piping hot go right up your nose? You seen 'Total Recall' when Arnie pulls that tracing bug out his nose? Yeah. Not recommended.

Late Of The Pier seemed to get into a bit of a scrap with the security - unfortunately I was at the toilet when this happened. Typical.

Razorlight followed LOTP, and with everything running behind by 1 hour I had to leave just as White Lies were prepping to go on and head out of town to a fringe event and shoot Black Dogs, who mysteriously weren’t playing when I got there. I did bump into the guys from Lovvers though.

From then on in it was the night of the stalwarts. Metallica played the secret show, which opened with total classics. Read the story about it here.

It was another cross-town marathon to get to Austin Music hall for Tricky, who had pulled an enormous crowd. Devo followed and seemed to be worshipped as Gods. I have never really got them, it seems odd for a country obsessed with image that four guys that look like your pervert uncle are still revered so much.

This should be a foot note really but, if these guys were in a band, I’d like to join it.

The evening wound up with Kid Cudi at the Red Bull Moon Tower, who I was rather excited to see was backed up by DJ Green Lantern, the producer behind Immortal Techniques 3rd World. Only had my point and shoot with me, damn shame.

And finally.
No Bronx for me today, gutted. So I got my fix watching the NME.com SXSW interview - And what happens? The Bronx big up NME Journo Kelly, jealous much.

HEY BRONX DUDES! YEAH YOU! DEDICATE A SONG TO ME OR NEXT TIME I ONLY PHOTOGRAPH YOUR SHOES.
