She's got the love
Florence Welch’s flawless vocal performances are staggering by themselves, but the Florence + the Machine frontwoman has joined more than a few huge names up on stage for awesome collaborations: she’s duetted with everyone from the legendary Rolling Stones to TV sensation Jimmy Fallon. Here’s her 11 best onstage collabs.
1. Dizzee Rascal
When: 16th February 2010
Where: The Brits
What happened: The Best Album winner took to the stage to perform a new version of her track ‘You Got the Love’, with fellow Brit award winner, Dizzee, who had won Best British Male. The reworked ‘You Got the Dirtee Love’ went on sale just hours after the live performance, with all proceeds donated to the Brit Trust.

Where: Hammersmith Apollo, London
What happened: During a London performance in 2011, Drake treated fans to a special collaboration with Florence for the track ‘Fireworks’, his ‘Thank Me Later’ duet with Alicia Keys. It sparked rumours that the two artists were working on music together.
3. Cold War Kids frontman Nathan Willet
When: 18th April 2010
What happened: The CWK’s lead singer of the band made a surprise appearance on stage to duet with Florence on Cold War Kids’ hit ‘Hospital Beds’ – a song she had covered it in 2008 as a B-side to her debut single ‘Kiss With A Fist’.
4. The xx
When: 26th June 2010
What happened: The xx began to perform their own stripped back, remixed version of Florence’s track ‘You Got the Love’ before Florence herself joined them on stage.
5. Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Yolanda Adams, Martina McBride
When: 13th February 2011
Where: The Grammy Awards
What happened: Florence Welch joined these stars on stage as part of an Aretha Franklin tribute at the 53rd Grammy Awards. The performance opened with a collaborative version of ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’, with Florence delivering her own spectacular take on ‘Think’.
6. Elton John
When: 27th February 2011
Where: Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards
What happened: Florence took to the stage for the annual occasion to perform ‘Tiny Dancer’ with Elton John, him on piano and her taking central vocals.
7. Josh Homme
When: 16th December 2011
Where: MTV Unplugged, New York
What happened: Florence and Josh duetted on a cover of ‘Jackson’, the Jerry Leiber and Billy Edd Wheeler song made famous by Johnny Cash and June Carter. The track was part of a recording of the band’s new live album, which also included a cover of Otis Redding’s ‘Try A Little Tenderness’.
8. The Horrors
When: 29th February 2012
Where: NME Awards, O2 Academy Brixton
What happened: The two bands came together to perform a duet of The Horror’s standout single ‘Still Life’. Florence went on to win Best Solo Artist and Best Track for ‘Shake It Out’, with The Horrors taking home Best Album for ‘Skying’.

9. Jimmy Fallon
When: 12th September 2012
Where: Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
What happened: As part of the ‘audience suggestion box’ skit on the US chat show, Jimmy and Florence recreated the song Jimmy wrote in 2010 in protest to the BP oil spill, ‘Balls In Your Mouth’.
10. The Rolling Stones
When: 29th November 2012
Where: The O2, London
What happened: Florence joined The Stones on stage at their show in London to perform their track ‘Gimme Shelter’ with Mick Jagger. The two gave a fiery performance and Welch had enough swagger up her sleeve to rival the legendary frontman.
11. Dev Hynes (Blood Orange)
Where: Human Rights Campaign Benefit
What happened: Dev and Florence teamed up for the benefit to perform an original piano ballad version of Icona Pop’s ‘I Love It’.
