From booking in a Shockwaves NME Awards show to enlisting the production help of The Knocks (Ellie Goulding) and Charlie Hugall (the guy behind Florence's 'You Got The Love'), pop's new big hope Alex Winston is making all the right choices to guarantee fame in 2011. But how does the 21-year-old distinguish herself from the rest of the impending and inevitable wave of post-Flo hopefuls? Well, she's from Detroit for a start, and has mined the city's heritage well for her own sound, she's a multi-instrumentalist that's trained in opera and versed in Americana and she's toured with Ted Nugent and supported Chuck Berry. It all adds up to a more interesting prospect than your average new starlet.
