Get your Ritalin pills at the ready – this is the best news that you will hear this side of your deathbed…
The Get Up Kids will be touring the UK this summer! ‘Really?!’ – YEEEAASS!
After their performance at this year’s Groezrock festival, TGUK guitarist Jim Suptic informed me that the pre-MySpace era pop-punk-rockers are planning a triumphant return to the UK on tour later this year.
“We’ll be touring the UK in August”, Suptic said, inbetween trying to convince me that Blur are the best band in the universe*. “It’ll be in festival season, so Reading and Leeds are on the cards.”
The Get Up Kids released their fourth studio album ‘Guilt Show’ in 2004 and broke young hearts when they announced their split in early 2005. October 2008 marked TGUK’s reformation with an original line-up and a plan to re-release 1999’s utterly flawless ‘Something To Write Home About’ for its 10th anniversary.
No UK dates have been announced as of yet.
*(Me: “Kid Dynamite rule, Britpop sucks. End of.”)
Did you see TGUK before they broke up? What songs would you like to see on their setlist? Precisely how rad do you rate this news?!
