3. Middle Class Rut – 'Thought I Was'
Today also marks the release of Middle Class Rut’s debut album, ‘No Name No Color’. If you’re not yet familiar with the duo and want to test out some tunes before buying the album, then download ‘Thought I Was’ for free. It’s a whole lotta heavy sound from two guys from California, and it’s a great intro to their music.

4. Mogwai – ‘Rano Pano’
Mogwai are back, and are on the cusp of releasing their seventh studio album, ‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will’ (which is due out in February 2011). If this track is anything to go by, then these Glaswegians have produced one heck of album.

5. N.E.R.D. and Daft Punk – ‘Hypnotize U’ (Nero remix)
Get to know UK producer Nero because, as can be learned from this remix, he’s a pretty talented guy. N.E.R.D. and Daft Punk are a good combo, but this makes it even better.

8. We Are Standard – ‘Other Lips, Other Kisses' (CFCF remix)
They’ve recently released an album of remixes, called ‘The Golden League’, and we thought this one from Montreal-based DJ/producer CFCF was a good starter. Pick up the album for other remixes from John Talabot, David E. Sugar, Anoraak and more.

9. My Disco – ‘Closer’
Here’s a rock band from Australia, releasing their album ‘Little Joy’ on January 25th. It’s a song of very few words, but it’s got a whole lot of energy. The best minimalist rock to come out of Australia right now.

10. Houses – ‘Reds’
This track comes from ambient Chicago-based duo Houses. Apparently, they wrote a song in Hawaii, then pieced together the rest of their debut album, 'All Night', in about a week after being signed to Lefse Records. Pretty impressive work.
