Ah, the baby shower. A celebration of life, of course, and a great excuse to get loads of presents. Ideal.

But like every good party, you need some excellent music to go with it, and boy have we got some tunes for you. Some of the following songs are about children and babies, others are just have baby in the title – but we can all agree that this playlist of songs perfect for that gift-getting-ceremony. Oh, I mean, “welcoming of a little one”. Get born!

Stevie Wonder – Isn’t She Lovely

This one was written about his first daughter, Aisha, in 1976 and is absolutely bloody lovely. N’aww.

Shouldn’t have to explain this one, really, should we? It says the word “baby” 57 times, in case you’re wondering.

Penned two days after the arrival of his and Beyonce’s first child, Blue Ivy – Jay used her heartbeat on the track, making her one of the youngest people to ever be credited as a songwriter.

Zimmerman’s classic ode to eldest son Jesse has been remixed and covered by pop stars ever since its release in 1974 – but it’s the original’s paternal charm remains a winner.

This song’s about a teenage Jarvis hiding in the cupboard because he fancied his mate’s sister. A baby making song, perhaps.
