Couple of good ones today, starting with an epic 11 minute track from Southampton’s Band Of Skulls. As you probably read in last week’s mag the band are currently killing the US on the back of the ‘New Moon’ soundtrack and trying to achieve the same success here. Go see them, buy their records, don’t let them become the next Bush.

Next Future Islands. Imagine him from Electric Six fronting Abe Vigoda if the latter grew up and learnt to chill out; you’ve just imagined ‘Tin Man’. On that description I’d probably run a mile too but it’s a beautiful track, singer Samuel T Herring’s cobwebby growl meshing perfectly with the steel drum backbone. The band call it post-wave. Download it and let us know your take.
