Barack and Michelle Obama have written a letter to the friends and family of Frankie Knuckles, the dance music revolutionary who died on March 31. The couple spent most of the late 80s and 90s in Chicago, at the time the house music Knuckles' pioneered was enjoying its golden age.
Superstar DJ David Morales posted the letter from the couple after Knuckles' "emotionally special" memorial service. Out of many tributes that've poured in over the last few weeks, it's bang on:
Frankie's work helped open minds and bring people together, blending genres to capture our attention and ignite our imaginations. He was a trailblazer in his field, and his legacy lives on in the city of Chicago and on dance floors across the globe
