Blossoms: Watch Our Exclusive Video From Their Secret Stockport Album Launch Show

As the mid-week chart told us, it looks like Blossoms’ self-titled debut album is heading for the UK Number One slot. Ahead of their album launch in Stockport last Thursday, we caught up with the band to discuss their phenomenal rise.

“We thought it’d be special to do a midnight launch gig in our hometown of Stockport,” says frontman Tom Ogden. “We’ve got tshirts that say ‘I Love Stockport’.” The band were playing the Plaza venue in their hometown, and as they explained, they were playing a lot of the tracks for the first time. That didn’t seem to phase them though…

Last week, as they released their debut, Blossoms graced the NME cover for the first time and told us how ambitious they really are. “I don’t understand why bands wouldn’t want to get to [The Stone Roses’] point,” drummer Joe Donovan said. “You put so much work into it, you believe in it, why wouldn’t you want to get to the top?” Frontman Tom Ogden added, “Everything we say, we believe in. We want to be that big. We want to be massive – we’ve always said that and we’re not embarrassed about it. We want it. And we’re ready for it.” Looks like they’re well on their way.
