5. Fujiya & Miyagi – ‘Sixteen Shades Of Black and Blue’
The latest release from Fujiya & Miyagi has a bit more rough rock than we’re used to from the Brighton band, but we’re loving it. The single is from ‘Ventriloquizzing’, their forthcoming album due out in January 2011. Bandmate David Best says of the album “We wanted to make a record that was musically darker and had more going on than our previous LPs…This record is its own thing. It's far less indebted to any past influences than our previous records and in my opinion is all the better for it.”

9. Mother Mother – ‘Body Of Years’
This free download comes from Canadians Mother Mother – the single is out now, via Last Gang Records. Vocalist/guitarist Ryan Guldemond says the track is ”a rock anthem about reconciling with, or perhaps NOT reconciling with one's dirty little secrets from one's sordid past, and of course, all the inherent guilt that comes along with all of that. Something we learned from our parents and good friends.”

10. Japanese Voyeurs – ‘Smother Me’
This thrash-metal/grunge band from London have just finished recording their debut album, which will be out in early 2011. Download free track ‘Smother Me’, and check them out supporting Against Me and Fucked Up next month on their UK tour. Here’s what singer Romily Alice says of the free track: "We wanted to give away 'Smother Me' as an introduction to the record because it's both brutally heavy yet very tender - it's one of the slower tracks of the record influenced by some of the doom bands that we're very into like Witchsorrow, The Melvins, Sloth and Earth.”
