Last month, we found out that the highest earning DJs can expect an annual salary in the millions of dollars. According to Forbes magazine, Tiësto, Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Deadmau5, DJ Pauly D and Kaskade each earned more than $10 million in the last year.
But being filthy rich, travelling the world, staying in great hotels, meeting fans and quaffing champagne can be grueling work – especially when faced with overcooked steak, shoddy room service and weak vodka.
A new Twitter account, DJs Complaining, exists solely to highlight the terrible plight of the DJ community, collecting their whiny Tweets in a wall of shame.
It’s already birthed its own hashtag – #DJproblems – and already seems to have had an effect on those lampooned. Today, DJ Yoda posted the following: “Just heard the Afrojack remix of Michael Jackson “Bad” feat Pitbull! But now @DJsComplaining exists, I won’t comment further”.
