Apologies for the lack of an update last Friday. The relentless festivities of birthday week fully took a hold and I spent more time staring into the bottom of a beer glass than I did staring into my musical binoculars scouring the landscape for fine ear candy for all of your ears.
Friday night we had Filthy Few’s 3rd Birthday with Death Metal Disco Scene, Truly Beautiful Disaster and a DJ set from Late Of The Pier. Saturday saw me take the train to Manchester for round two of the birthday fun as we ventured up to Annie Mac’s rather excellent Warehouse Project club night.
The line-up was a big one: Annie, Major Lazer, Toddla T, DJ Zinc, Boy 8 Bit, Fake Blood and Skream were all on the line-up. Skream played just before Annie and pulled a fair few beauties out of his record bag. This was definitely a highlight.
Next up, I wasn’t so convinced hearing this tune in my lounge but in a sweaty, dingy Warehouse Project it made perfect sense. Boris Dlugosch‘s ‘Bankgkok’ is a monster. Annie Mac seemed to drop this at the perfect moment.
Fake Blood was in charge of the decks after Annie and had the task of bringing the club to a close. The man really is next level when it comes to DJing.
Not forgetting the awesome Buraka Som Sistema who played live and knocked us all over with this ear demolition.
