We’re still in recovery mode from Bestival weekend, but here’s your weekly round-up of the 10 best MP3 downloads on the web this week. And to kick things off, we’ve got a mixtape from Four Tet, who performed a killer set at the Isle of Wight festival.
1. Four Tet – ‘FACT Mix 182’
Four Tet’s residency at East London’s recently re-opened Plastic People venue has just been revived. So to kick it off, he’s released this hour-long mix featuring Mount Kimbie, Ramadanman, Villalobos, and many others (as well as some of his own tracks and remixes). It’s only available for free download for three weeks, though, so be quick.
2. Warpaint – ‘Undertow’
While we’re still waiting for the release of their debut album, ‘The Fool’, (out October 25th), Rough Trade have kindly made this single available for free download. If you live in the States you can catch them supporting the Mercury-winning XX on tour, and UK dwellers can check them out live in October.
3. Here We Go Magic – ‘Terminally Chill’ (Neon Indian cover)
Brooklyn five-piecer Here We Go Magic have just released this soft cover of Neon Indian’s track, ‘Terminally Chill’. You can also find a free download of PVT’s remix of Here We Go Magic’s ‘Collector’ here. The band’s new single, ‘Casual’, is out now through Secretly Canadian.
4. Sufjan Stevens – ‘Too Much’
New Sufjan just keeps on rolling in. We shared with you his most recent free download for ‘I Walked’ a couple weeks ago, and now this six-minute electronic track (also from the forthcoming ‘The Age of Adz’ album due out Octber 11th) can also be yours with the click of a mouse.
5. Foxy Shazam – ‘Wanna-Be Angel’
These guys look like they’d be a blast to party with, and they’ve also got a great single for you to download for free. The Cincinnati sextet are releasing their self-titled debut album on October 11th, so have your taster now and be sure to grab the album.
6. Manu Chao and Portishead – ‘King Of The Bongo’ (Breaks Mix)
This song from Manu Chao has been around for a while – remixed, covered, the whole shebang. But this Breaks mix is one of the best we’ve heard in quite some time.
7. Shit Robot – ‘Tuff Enuff’
Urban Outfitters have five more free downloads for you this week, including Shit Robot’s ‘Tuff Enuff’, which is off his debut album, ‘From the Cradle to the Rave’ (out on September 20th). You can also grab MP3s from Fool’s Gold, Gold Panda, Keepaway and Niva.
8. Urge Overkill – ‘Effigy’
The Chicagoan alt-rockers are back with their first new song in 15 years, and you can download it for free over at SPIN.com.
9. Eclectic Method – ‘8 Bit Mixtape’
OK, this is cool. Electric Method sampled old-school Nintendo game sound effects, which is enough to make anyone old enough to remember the games pretty sentimentally excited.

10. Cradle Of Filth – ‘Lilith Immaculate’
Finally, here’s something a bit heavier and darker. Cradle Of Filth are set to release their ninth studio album, ‘Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa’, on November 1st. The band’s frontman Dani Filth says it’s “without doubt the fastest and most brutal album we’ve created to date. As an acquaintance of the band so aptly noted, this is like ‘Iron Maiden on crack in a graveyard of angels!” Sounds good to us!
