If there’s one thing I like more than the arrival of a new digital-dancehall-horrorcore-surf-ragga album, it’s the arrival of one which claims to be by “a Jamaican commando who lost his arm in the secret Zombie War of 1984.”
Uber-producer Diplo and the world’s drunkest man, Switch have spent the last year making ludicrous bashment beats for the cream of the Caribbean’s dancehall community. The likes of Vybz Kartel, T.O.K. and Mr Vegas line up with Santigold, Nina Sky and Amanda Blank to flesh out the story of Major Lazer, the vampire-battling soldier with a laser for an arm.
At Mad Decent you can download new track Hold The Line, which features Santigold and Mr Lex and sounds like Dick Dale bogling with Bounty Killer. Or head over to Pinglewood to hear chunky teen comedian Andy Milonakis’ ridiculous brains-crazed freestyle, Zumbi. The album Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do is out in June on Downtown Records.
