Lana Del Rey has been announced as the face of H&M’s Autumn/Winter range. What a pity. The fashion world seems to love her, even if music fans remain unconvinced. Last year, a shoot she did for Wonderland magazine was photoshopped as an ad for Prada – all they did was ad the Prada logo to the image.
And while there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with musicians shilling for fashion labels – Pete Doherty starred in a Kooples campaign recently – H&M and Lana feels like a strange mix. Neither highbrow, nor lowbrow. Just middle of the road.
