Ms. Lauryn Hill appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman and performed a cover of The Beatles' 'Something' as part of their celebration week of the Fab Four. She does it justice: her version's got a slight ska flavour and shows Hill in top voice. Just look at the guitarists face 3.21 minutes in. Could this be the start of a proper comeback? She's just been announced as the headliner at Croatia's Outlook festival in September and she's playing various dates in the US this month.

'Neurotic Society', her first single for a decade, was released May last year (2013). It was a rapid-fire sketch charged by bouncing glissando keys and political fire. It showed Hill's lost none of her sharp-witted rhyme skills yet there was some commentary about a couple of dubious, ambiguous lyrics. An album was rumoured to follow the track before a jail sentence for tax evasion got in the way. Reports say she's supposed to be serving a home detention at the moment - the final part of her sentence - though that doesn't seem to be particularly strict. Could we see a new album after 15 years of sporadic performances, rumoured health problems and self-imposed exile? It's looking more than possible.
