Madonna, 'Girl Gone Wild' - Review

With Benny Benassi behind her, it’s a shame that Madonna’s decided to take such a (and we’ll use her fave word here) reductive turn.

‘Girl Gone Wild’ is basic four-to-the-floor, taking hints from earlier tracks ‘Music’ and ‘Jump’ but without anything fresh enough to stand out. Cruelly, the middle eight teases with Madonna coyly singing "I know I shouldn’t act this way, good girls don’t misbehave". It’s the only bit of character in the track, and an indicator that if she wanted to, Madge could still go HAM. Combined with earlier single ‘Give Me Your Luvin’ it points to an uneasy mix for album ‘MDNA’.
