Hi all, arrived at the Grosvenor about an hour ago for this year’s Barclaycard Mercury Prize. Highlights so far: Noel Fielding stalking the red carpet with a massive sash round his head, an eight second interview with La Roux and, of course, Jools Holland’s stage banter.

But first a low-light, unfortunately Mr James Allan is missing in action – we hear he’s been struck ill and hasn’t been able to make the event. Doesn’t look like they’ll be playing live, alas. I grabbed Rab and Paul on the red carpet to explain:
