Michelle Obama Just Wants To Talk About Beyoncé At The Dinner Table

Being First Lady of the United States must come with a hell a lot of perks. You get to live in The White House and travel the world, for a start. You also, if you’re Michelle Obama get to be mates with Beyonce.

FLOTUS’ friendship with Bey is well-documented by now, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t still hanging on every word she has to say about the singer. Luckily, Mrs Obama stopped by The Colbert Report to talk about her family’s imminent move out of The White House and other issues and initiatives. “Well, the most important question I have for you is what is Beyoncé really like?” joked host Stephen Colbert and Obama played along graciously.

“She’s a sweetheart,” she replied. “She’s smart, she’s creative, she’s a great mother. She loves her family. She’s just a low-key lady, so we have a lot in common in that way. Except I can’t sing, I can’t dance.” When Colbert responded saying he’s seen Obama dance and she’s got moves, she laughed: “Not like Beyoncé.” Who does though?

She also revealed her and her younger daughter Sasha get annoyed when elder daughter Malia asks Barack about serious issues like global warming at the dinner table. “We want to talk about our favourite song on the ‘Lemonade‘ album,” she said. “He doesn’t want to go there.”
