1. Modest Mouse – ‘Poison’/’Lampshades On Fire’
We haven’t heard too much from Modest Mouse since they released their 2007 album, ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank’. But in April, Big Boi Tweeted that he’s been working in the studio with the band for their next release. And for lucky fans at the recent Sasquatch! Music Festival in Washington, they got to hear two new songs – ‘Poison’ and ‘Lampshades On Fire’. Missed it? You can download the live recordings right now.

2. Linkin Park feat. Chuck D. of Public Enemy – ‘Wretches & Kings (HavocNdeeD RemiX)’
Oh my. This is, well, bloody amazing. Linkin Park and Public Enemy’s Chuck D. Remixed by Las Vegas/Phoenix-based duo HavocNdeeD. Even LP’s Mike Shinoda loves it, saying “Their remix of ‘Wretches And Kings’ came out incredible...the bridge section is massive!" But don’t just take his word for it – download it for free over at somekindofawesome.com. Want more? Apparently there could be a Linkin Park remix album in the works, featuring the likes of Diplo, Glitch Mob, The KickDrums, Get Busy Committee.

3. Benga – ‘United Kingdom’
Looks like Benga’s been doing some solo work lately, and Annie Mac’s giving away his hot and heavy track ‘United Kingdom’ for free over on her Soundcloud page. Caution: may harm your delicate speakers. And if you missed it, you can also score a free download of ‘Glowsticks’ over on Benga’s Facebook page.

4. of Montreal – ‘Fell In Love With A Girl’
The glamorific of Montreal stopped by the A.V. club studio recently to cover The White Stripes’ classic track ‘Fell In Love With A Girl’, as part of the website’s ‘Undercover 2011’ series. While I’d have expected something a bit more eccentric and twisted from them, their cover actually stays quite true to the original – and it’s hella good. Click here to watch them perform the cover in the studio.

5. Manchester Orchestra - 'April Fool (The Joy Formidable Remix)'
So this is what happens when you give Ritzy and her gang a new track to remix - they turn an already rockin' song into a blizzard of heavy amp-splitting musical spasms. You can find the original version on Manchester Orchestra's latest album, 'Simple Math', out now.

6. The Black Ships – ‘Kurofune EP’
While Richard Ashcroft’s off doing his solo thing, ex-Verve members Nick McCabe and Simon Jones decided to start a new musical project of their own. Along with Mig Schillace (Portishead / Goldfrapp) and Davide Rossi (the guy behind string compositions used by The Verve, Coldplay and Goldfrapp), they’ve put together a free 26-minute EP that you can snag for free now. Here’s what McCabe’s got to say about it: “This music is of and about the connections and disconnections of human life. It has its own will, and we are glad to obey it. It is a grand thing to be aboard The Black Ships. Welcome.”

7. Diddy Dirty Money – ‘I Hate That You Love Me (Sinden Edit)’
To kick off his brand new newsletter, Sinden’s shared a free house edit of Diddy Dirty Money’s latest track – and if I may be so bold, I think it’s way better than the original. I’ll leave you with Sinden’s thoughts on the rework: “On first listen of ‘I Hate That You Love Me’ it struck me that all it needed was some subtle changes to fit into the more house moments of my DJ sets - the 4x4 kick and piano loop exist already. I took it uptempo added some club dynamics on top - a weightier kick, extra percussion, claps etc. Hope you find it useful!”

8. Architecture In Helsinki – ‘Contact High (Javelin Remix)’
I instantly fell in love with this new track from the Aussie indie-poppers, and NY-based duo Javelin have just released a sparkly new remix for us to enjoy. Get more from Architecture In Helsinki on their brand new album, ‘Morning Bends’ (out now).

9. Blood Orange – ‘Sutphin Boulevard’
Here’s another new one from Lightspeed Champion’s Dev Hynes. He’ll be releasing his first full-length solo album, ‘Coastal Grooves’, this summer, and ‘Sutphin Boulevard’ is the first official track from it. You’ve probably already heard it, as an early demo recording has been floating around and it appeared on Skins back in January, but now you can download it in its polished, final form.

10. Penguin Prison - 'Multi-Millionaire (Robert Owens Remix)'
In the months leading up to the September release of his album, NYC's Penguin Prison is unleashing a series of remixes. If you head on over to his Facebook page, you can get some fresh remixes of his new single 'Multi-Millionaire' from Robert Owens and Neville Watson. He's doing a couple of new ones a week, and these are available until June 10th - so be speedy!
