NME's Ben Patashnik reckons its "predictable in its insanity" and "conceptually impressive but musically all too familiar".

Uncut's John Lewis gives it four stars, although - somewhat confusingly - also says it's "hilarious, maddening, ridiculous and slightly shit".

Mojo only saw fit to write 100 words, but like most of the chin-stroking press, they're now firmly onside after years of sneering at Muse's unashamed grandiosity. They praise the album as "introspection realised on a gargantuan scale".

But how about you? You can listen to Muse's fifth album below, and post your own review as a comment.
