New Animal Collective - 'My Girls'

The New Year is just weeks old, but already Animal Collective have played four sold-out UK headline shows and announced more dates for their upcoming world tour.

Maryland's crazy scientists have also established themselves as early contenders for 2009's album of the year title, with the release of 'Merriweather Post Pavilion'.

'My Girls' is the first single to be taken from the quartet's ninth studio album, and represents the record's upbeat brand of skewed psychedelia perfectly.

The accompanying video is appropriately hallucinogenic, boasting a blend of fluorescent colours, tessellated patterns and just the right level of hippy-dippy self-indulgence.

The single is set for release on March 23.

Plus, good news if you missed Animal Collective in January - there will be another opportunity to see the band's exhilarating live performances in March, when they return.
