New Music - Jon Hopkins, 'Open Eye Signal'

You may have heard the work of Jon Hopkins via his collaborations with King Creosote ('Diamond Mine), Coldplay ('Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends ') or Brian Eno ('Small Craft On A Milk Sea); various film soundtracks ('Monsters', 'The Lovely Bones'); or his blinding electronic album from 2009, 'Insides'. If he's a new name and clever, human techno's of interest, 'Open Eye Signal' is definitely for you. Not unusually for an electronic musician, Hopkins was classically trained at the Royal College of Music as a teen before plunging into the acid house, hardcore and the like. It's the first full-length track from his new album 'Immunity' and moves incrementally from diaphonous rumbles to a voluptuous break with glints of steel. Electrifying.
