If it seems to be all about the glacial / semi-Gothic pop these days, Paper Crows (aka vocalist Emma Panas and electronic things man Duncan McDougall) are here to pull the genre gradually into more dubstep / electro heavy territory.
New track 'Fingertips' bolts on some subsonic bass to an Alpines-y anthem-pop while 'Follow The Leader' is sort of Anna Calvi meets Boy 8 Bit, and thankfully a world away from that Soca Boys bilge of a few years back. Both are out 28th March on Future Cut.
Follow The Leader
Their second ever single features numerous remixes, the best of which is the synth heavy George Lenton cut. Download that here, along with a special acoustic version of 'Papercuts' the band did just for us.

DFA's Planningtorock, meanwhile, has been on heavy rotation on the NME stereo with her new LP 'W'. A bonkers 50 minutes of orchestral / electronic melodrama it's less easy to describe than just embed the opening track and let you make your own minds up. Think The Knife, Gang Gang Dance, and Connan Mockasin melting together and forming one long diving board, from which the Bolton-via-Berlin songwriter dives into a galaxy of ideas. Or something.
