Pete Doherty And Keane Cover 'Karma Chameleon'

By Luke Lewis

Posted on 19 May 09

This is painful. As if competing for the title of both worst cover version and worst duet simultaneously, here Pete 'r' Doherty joins forces with Keane for a bizarre rendition of Culture Club's 'Karma Chameleon', recorded for French TV in April 2009.

It's not so much the choice of song that's weird, more the way they perform it – they look frightened and tentative, sweating under the studio lights, like playground enemies forced to sing 'Little Donkey' together at the school Nativity. It's weird and upsetting.

Never has the prospect of a proper Libertines reunion seemed more attractive - or more urgent.
