Looking at the tattoo-covered Steve Forrest, you’d probably guess that he’s in some heavy rock band, and you’d kind of be right. But the former Evaline drummer/current Placebo drummer is now attempting to fly solo, taking on lead vocals for his new side project Planes – and it sounds absolutely like nothing he’s ever done before.
In the build-up to their EP launch, the band have been gradually showcasing some of their new material at small gigs around the UK. A few months back, they played their very first show at The Lexington in London – and what came out was quite a shock, as Forrest brought out these soft, bluesy country-esque ballads that, quite frankly, I’d never have expected to hear from him.
Today’s the day Planes release their debut self-titled EP, and they’ll be playing an EP launch show tonight at Hoxton Bar And Kitchen in London. To celebrate, we’ve been given an exclusive free download of their new song ‘One Drink’, which you can grab below.
