Prince Has Launched PRINCESTAGRAM – The Best Bits Of His Mad Posting Spree So Far

Credit: Press
Late last week Prince appeared to discover Instagram: he set up an account on Thursday under the moniker PRINCESTAGRAM – because, why not call it that? – and proceeded to upload an impressive 88 posts in just one night.
Prince has a chequered history with social media, having dabbled in Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts (he probably even had a Bebo account at one stage) in recent years to, let’s call it, varying degrees of success. Perhaps his most infamous online moment came with an “exclusive” Facebook Q&A he held where he managed to respond to just one of nearly 4000 questions, with a link to an article about, of all things, sound frequencies. The Purple One knows how to generate a stir online.
But what are we getting with this latest stab at nailing that all-important social media angle? Glimpses of the singer-songwriter hard at work in the studio? An MTV Cribs-style insight into the opulent and mostly-purple Prince mansion? An endless stream of inspirational/mildly-amusing/highly-irritating memes? (spoiler alert: no, possibly, and yes, lots).
Here are just 10 of the best shots so far from your new favourite Instagram account…
So here’s the latest of the 88 posts – where The Purple One appears to have discovered the zoom feature on his smartphone.
This post imagines Prince Quadruplets – a slightly terrifying reality, we think you’ll agree.
Prince’s first attempt at embracing meme culture doesn’t go particularly well.
Full marks to whoever trims his beard – the accuracy is unnerving.
Death by chocolate, apparently.
He bangs the drums.
Here’s Prince doing his best blue steel.
What is that giant shiny golden ornament, Prince? A caption (or simple hashtag) might’ve helped here, no?
Prince unfortunately not rocking a Raspberry Beret here.
And rounding things off rather appropriately is a snap of Prince’s highly-impractical sunglasses. Be sure to keep tabs on @PRINCETAGRAM, because you never know when it’ll disappear off the face of the earth forever (i.e. very, very soon).
