David Bowie was never one to shy away from a camera. His iconic photo shoots as Ziggy Stardust, The Thin White Duke – or even as himself – have given us some of the most famous images ever created, pictures that went on to influence musical and fashion trends across the world.

Below are two photos, shot by Jimmy King, from Bowie’s final photoshoot. Uploaded to his official Facebook page on his 69th Birthday on Friday (8th), they show David with a beaming smile.

Bowie’s death was confirmed by his representatives and family on Sunday, January 10. The shocking news arrived just days after Bowie released his 25th album ‘Blackstar’ on his 69th birthday (8th). It was his second album since his emergence from musical retirement, following 2013’s ‘The Next Day’.

Last night thousands of fans convened in Brixton, his birthplace, to celebrate the life of Bowie with speakers blasting out some of the great man’s best hits. NME went to Brixton earlier in the day to speak to some of the grieving fans, which you can see in the video below.
