I have a feeling you'll like today's tracks. First up, Tall Ships continue their ascent from their humble beginnings in the Womens' Institute halls of Falmouth to, well, moderate fame with their second EP for Big Scary Monsters / Blood & Biscuits. 'There Is Nothing But Chemistry Here' is five tracks of post-Foalsian indie pleasure, all sharp edges and soft melodies and post rock nuances. 'Chemistry' and 'Snow' are my favourites and you can download the former after the jump.

(Get your hands on our last MPFree from the band, 'Beanie And Dodger' here too).
Next Big Deal, whose MySpace epithet thingy says "we don't know how to put this but we're kind of a big deal". A bold boast indeed for an act that's had no more than one Guardian mention to date, but in this case they may just be pre-empting their status come 2011 New Band list time. Fans of Big Star should sit up straight; not only do the London duo channel their spirit but they've actually covered 'Thirteen' for the b-side to forthcoming single 'Homework'. Have a listen - it's sparse and beautiful stuff - and check the MySpace for live dates, including all the usual route-to-stardom hispter dives. 'Homework' and 'Thirteen' are out soon; 'Locked Up' you can get for free below.

Elsewhere on the net:
UNKLE are back, and have a track featuring Lupe Fiasco, 'The Runaway', up for grabs via RCRD LBL.
The Smashing Pumpkins, meanwhile, are offering a new song called 'Spangled' over here and all they're asking is a small donation to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
What do you think of the tracks?
